Lingwen Zeng

Dr. Lingwen Zeng is a doctoral supervisor at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and University of Science and Technology of China, a National Stem Cell Chief Scientist. He obtained his PhD degree from McMaster University in Canada, and post-doctoral training from The University of Chicago in the United States. He worked as a scientist and manager in 3 publically traded US companies, including Quest Diagnostics, Johnson & Johnson, and Genetics Computer Group. After returning to China, Dr. Zeng served as Chief Scientist of Beijing Biochip National Engineering Research Center, Deputy Director of Institute of Pharmaceutical Research at Tsinghua University, and director for Stem Cell and Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory at Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health, Chinese Academy of Sciences. With his outstanding scientific achievements and contributions, Dr. Zeng has been awarded a number of national and provincial honors and awards, such as "High-level Innovative and Entrepreneurial Talent of Jiangsu Province", "Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions in Hubei Province", “Hubei Provincial Technology Invention Award", "China Invention Association Invention and Entrepreneurship Award" and "Great Wall Food Safety Science and Technology Award". Dr. Zeng has been awarded more than 20 national, provincial and municipal grants and has received a total of 130 million RMB in project funding, including 3 National Key Science Research Plan grants (973), 3 National Major Research Plan grants, 1 National Development and Reform Commission grant, 1 National Natural Science Foundation grant, 1 Central and Local Government Science and Technology Development grant, 3 Chinese Academy of Sciences grants, 3 Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology grants, and 3 Guangzhou Science and Technology Tackling Project grants. He has published more than 90 SCI papers, authored and co-authored 12 English monographs. In addition, he has also been granted more than 100 patents, many of which has been transformed.

Major scientific achievements and contributions:

1. In the field of stem cell, Dr. Zeng has undertaken several national key research projects, including "Screening, identification and molecular network of stem cell molecular markers" and "Research and development of automated stem cell induction and culture equipment".
2. In the field of molecular diagnostics, Dr. Zeng has made remarkable achievements. He has developed a variety of technologies based on biosensors and nucleic acid amplification, which have played an important role in the diagnosis of food safety and major human diseases.
3. Dr. Zeng has not only made remarkable achievements in scientific research, but also made important contribution in transformation and application of his research results. Under his supervision, a variety of molecular diagnostic instruments and reagents have been developed and successfully industrialized. The developed products have a significant market share.
4. He has an important influence in the academic community. He has served as an Associate Editor and Editorial Board Member of several academic journals, including International Journal of Diagnostics, Journal of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Research.
